Chenxi Shuai (b. 2000, China) is an artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work is characterized by assemblages of discarded, everyday profane components and ephemeral materials. Through these compositions, Shuai delves into the intricate relationships between domestic spaces, displacement, and the human body, fusing intimate sentience with individual and collective experiences, as well as memory. Drawing from personal experience, Shuai explores abandoned furniture as clues to nomadism, reflecting on their social value, formal possibilities, and their connections to both physical and spiritual habitats.
